STEEL POLYCHROMIE
"Among my recent explorations, my aim has been to bring form and color to life in space by uniting my work as a painter and sculptor, while always remaining close to the themes that concern me. As a Sicilian, the colorful ceramics of everyday life have always been a part of my life since childhood, and their vibrant colors have influenced my work as a painter and sculptor so much so that in 2021, I began creating the Steel Polychromies series.
These works represent for me a vast space of freedom : uniting sculpture and painting within a single piece and blending forms and colors with an energy that is both tumultuous and controlled. But before being the evocation of a vase or a bowl, these pieces are first and foremost sculptures : their creation is guided by my requirements as a sculptor, namely a rhythmic work, one that defines itself and has its own function in space. The painting plays a crucial role in exalting the forms of these sculptures, making them vibrate even more, give them a graphic and free-flowing aspect. I work with welded metal and pay particular attention to finding rhythm through the voids and fulls created by the different pieces of metal assembled together. These pieces are then painted in a solid color, and then I intervene with paint to reveal and "explode" the form of the sculpture. It thus vibrates with a joyful and invigorating rhythm and tumult where each piece that composes it becomes both form and color in space. The vibrant rhythm of the colors makes the piece vibrate and explode its form.
It is a dialogue, a constant back and forth between painting and sculpture, between form and color, which invites the viewer's eye to follow a path that will be personal and unique to each individual.

SICILIA
As a Sicilian, the colorful ceramics of everyday life have always accompanied me, and their vibrant colors have influenced my work as a painter and sculptor. Evoking my native Sicily and its traditional ceramics was a natural choice, and each sculpture in its own way suggests a buried memory, an image, an impression of this fertile and inspiring island...
This very first series of sculptures, created in 2021, is inspired by memories of Sicily, an island whose culture, art, architecture, language, and cuisine are a vast blend of all the peoples who have inhabited it : Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Spanish... My works, too, are the fruit of this blend of cultures, this melting pot. The colors of the Mediterranean basin, the sea, the vegetation are present in each of these pieces and invite memories of travel, reminiscences of the past between nature, culture and a whole common heritage, an inexhaustible source of inspiration for millennia.

MON BLANC
The Mon Blanc series is a reference to the passage under this mythical summit that unites France, my adopted land and Italy, my native land.
This symbolic journey, materialised by the journey under the famous Mont Blanc tunnel, is always for me a journey towards a return to the sources of art and creation.
This series, whose main thread is white, is also an evocation of places and myths anchored in my inspiration.

BLOOMING (Eclosion)
Starting from the lines of a cup or a vase, the sculptures very often borrow the forms of flowers, of blossoming corollas evoking a plant and floral world, colorful and dreamlike... Nature, as the ultimate creator, dazzles me with the infinite richness of its palette of colors and shapes, and the flowers, like living sculptures, have come to impose their presence in the rigidity and coldness of the metal that I use. These pieces evoke the living but ephemeral sculptures that are flowers, and through my work in welded steel, I make them immortal, eternal. Conversely, the curves and roundness of the forms of Nature that are petals and corollas, bring fluidity, rhythm and lightness to the rigid and sharp steel that I work.
Painted and patinated steel
I started this series of sculptures with powder-coated and varnished works - which gives them that sought-after ceramic appearance - but over time, new possibilities and new desires appeared to me. On the pieces in this series, I turned to working on the material and the patina in order to bring to the work a sort of lived experience, an imaginary past, as if they had spent several centuries at the bottom of the Mediterranean where water and time had left their mark...
• Série Flowers for my Muse
• Series Birth of Venus
The sculptures in this series evoke the shape of the shell that accompanied Venus from the Sea to Earth, Venus who embodies beauty, love, but also fertility, which could just as easily represent the fertility of the human spirit through artistic creation.
